- Captain Joseph's father was a founding member and officer of B.A.S.S., so the captain grew up fishing. He's spent decades working as a commercial fisherman, starting as a deckhand and eventually working his way up to a captain of commercial Grouper bandit boats, Stone Crab boats, and net boats.

- Were diverse using both light and heavy tackle . Spinning and conventional rods are all high end Shimano, Gloomis and custom built gear . Trolling , bottom fishing , jigging and sight casting are all employed techniques.
