Tamarindo, GU, Costa Rica

Does spending the day under the gorgeous heat of the Costa Rican sun while you’re looking for that tell-tale sail sticking out of the water sound attractive? With this crew that day gets even better, as their first priority is your fun! Join them aboard their 40' Ocean vessel. She’s built for these waters and offers a smooth ride. She’s powered by twin 425 HP Cummins inboard engines. The gorgeous aquamarine waters of Tamarindo have a fish waiting for you, no matter your skill level! You can go for nearshore big boys like the Amberjack, or maybe some bottom fishing for Broomtail Grouper or Red Snapper is more your style. Fans of trolling for speedy predators will be glad to know you can target Wahoo, Spanish Mackerel, and Mahi Mahi. You can find parking at the listed location, so don’t worry about getting to and from your fishing adventure. Kick back and take a break from fishing, the charter provides snorkeling equipment so you can dive straight into the crystal waters – just let the captain know beforehand so he can prepare it. The captain will supply you with all the necessary gear for fishing, as well as snacks and drinks on all trips. The full day trip also includes a lunch, to keep your energy up between epic fights! The crew will clean and fillet your catch free of charge, but gratuity is always greatly appreciated. If you’re ready to let all of that stress go while fishing for gorgeous fish in some of the most beautiful waters this side of the country has to offer, you’re ready to book a trip with this crew.

These guys are great and work hard to put you on fish. We caught dorado and sailfish on our trip and had a lot of fun.

Good boat for smaller tuna…other species not so sure
Half Day Trip (AM) on July 25, 20244 adults
First, I hate to discredit the local fishermen in CR and want to say our captain, Juan, was very nice. However, 1. The booking profile portrayed the captain as someone other than Juan. 2. The person I was communicating with prior to the trip gave no indication rooster fish were not going to be an option, and in fact he informed me different tactics would need to be used specifically for roosters. He also informed me sailfish were not targeted on half day trips. Had that person informed me rooster fish were not possible for our trip, I wouldn’t have booked because we already had an inshore mahi/tuna trip booked that week (a bait and switch on a tourist to ensure the booking?) 3. When I informed Juan upon boarding his boat we were seeking rooster fish, he told me rooster fish were not available and offered tuna. I explained to him we had already caught a bunch of tuna earlier in the week and we wanted to catch something different, he offered a 15 mile trip out to target sailfish. I didn’t really have any other option at that point so we spent over $700 for a 4 hour boat ride. We did see a couple dolphin. We had a couple sailfish follow our bait but no hook up’s. Juan was very nice but the trip was a waste of money and time. This was a birthday present for my son who was hoping for a fishing trip of a lifetime. He was crushed that we caught nothing.
