Bluefin Sportfishing operates out of the legendary sportifishing town of Quepos, offering fishing trips to suit any schedule. Fish the river mouths and rocks for Roosterfish, Jacks, Snapper, and other inshore species or head offshore to do battle with big game pelagics like Marlin, Sailfish, Wahoo, Mahi Mahi, and Yellowfin Tuna. One thing is for sure - whatever you do, it is going to be epic!

You will be spending the day fishing aboard the Bluefin I. This 26’ custom-built sportfishing boat was specifically designed to carry groups of four out to catch the fish of their dreams and features everything you will need to do just that. She comes equipped with GPS and fishfinder to get you on the best catch, outriggers to troll for fast-moving fish, and a fighting chair to give you an edge in hard-fought battles offshore.

You will be fitted out with a wide range of equipment to match the long list of species you can target on your trip. A choice of light and heavy tackle is combined with the option to troll, jig, and bottom fish, meaning no fish is safe from your hooks. To make things even better, a choice or fresh live bait or realistic lures will make them unable to stay away. Fly fishers are also more than welcome to bring their favorite tackle along.

The Bluefin team is one of the best in town and their captains have been honing their skills for decades to get where they are today. The crew will work tirelessly your whole trip to make sure you stay hooked up. They will clean and fillet all your catch for you at the end of the day, ready to take home and enjoy as you discuss the triumphs and near-misses of your exciting day at sea.

Bluefin Sportfishing is committed to sustainability, working in partnership with the Fort Lauderdale Billfish Foundation as well as local partners to preserve the fish stock both for future generations to enjoy.

Nice day to be on the water
Half Day Trip - Inshore (PM) on January 23, 20162 adults
Miguel responded to a last minute request when another boat couldn't confirm our date, so we were happy to take his booking. He is a friendly guy and was able to get us set up with the boat and captain/crew at the last minute. We did catch fish (one nice Rooster and a few Bonito) when it looked like other boats in the area were not having any luck. The Captain Fabio and mate Jimmy were friendly enough, but didn't explain what we would be doing, or where we would be fishing. No "tour guide" information was provided either - we had maybe a total of 10 minutes of conversation during a half day trip. The boat seemed to be set up more for offshore, and less for inshore. All rod set-ups were Penn lever drag reels on short rods that were in pretty bad shape. Laminations on the rods that were set out was cracked and worn, guides were corroded and line on reels looked to be in need of replacement. The reels were pitted and corroded, but cranked OK, and the drags seemed to be smooth. We spent about 90% of the time trolling rock formations for Rooster, then the last 10% switched to spoons trolled over shallows and hit a couple schools of Bonito for a few fish. I would have enjoyed casting to river mouths, mangrove patches and rock piles as well as the Rooster trolling technique - 5 hours is a long time to circle the same few rock formations. The crew mentioned that the previous day they had 6 sailfish - I think that this is probably a good indication that they should be used for offshore, not inshore.

5th time with Blue Fin
Full Day Trip - Offshore on May 30, 20152 adults
Had a great time, but fishing was slow. Only got one sailfish. Great captain and mate. Have fished with Blue Fin 5 times and each time was a good trip.
