Smoky Mountain Fishing Company is here to show you the stunning waters of East Tennessee.
Species like Smallmouth Bass, Striper and more could be biting, depending on the time of year. You’ll target your catch by light tackle fishing, or maybe something more specialized in this area.
Planning a family adventure? Kids are absolutely welcome! Children must wear life vests, so find out if the appropriate size is available on board. Also, remember to bring snacks so that nobody gets cranky on an empty belly!
Capt. Derek runs a 22’ Excel bay boat with room for 4 passengers. It comes with all the essentials. Capt. Derek will supply rods and reels for you, as well as lures.
You will need to get a local fishing license before the trip. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain. Some species might be protected or require a tag to keep them, so make sure you know what to expect.
You can’t go wrong when you bring sunglasses, and sunscreen (non-spray). Drinks will be available for you. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, just be sure to avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles. Lunch is provided, just reach out to learn more, especially if you have any dietary needs.

First Guide Trip from Gatlinburg

First and foremost, Captain Alston was the best. I've done several guided trips salt water fishing and have never had a guide as personable, patient, and willing to share his knowledge and experience as this trip.
While the fishing was not super hot, he let us know going into the trip. "We're fishing quality, not quantity, unless you want me to put on a bunch of little fish."
We are all about quality and he did not disappoint! My son hooked what looked to be an 18-20" Rainbow, but lost it right at the boat. I then hooked my own PR Rainbow (22-24) AND landed it in the boat... after some fist bumps and warranted smack talk to my oldest boy, we continued to motor (row) on and nabbed a few smallies, as well. All and all a great and highly recommended trip! You can't go wrong with this ambitious, motivated Captain who is just as excited to put you on the fishing as if he caught the beasts himself!

Derek was awesome! My 10 year had a blast.

You could tell from the start that Derek is a pro. He put us on the fish from the very start. We caught a limit in less than an hour. My son had never caught a 10lb fish before so he had a blast. Everything was awesome, boat was well kept and organized, equipment was excellent, and Derek’s personality was top notch. We will definitely use him again when we come back to the area.

My father in-law, nephew, and son took this trip and we really enjoyed it. We are big fisherman in Texas so it was great fishing new waters and for new fish. Derick showed us all around the lake and explained everything to us well. When we arrived he had a cooler of drinks iced down for us and was just a really outgoing person. I think I enjoyed just having conversations with him rather than fishing. If we return I will definitely be booking again and I highly recommend to use this guide.

Catch of a lifetime!

My wife & I had an incredible fishing charter with Captain Derek. He was prompt with communication prior to the trip and was ready to hit the water right on time.
He gave us tips for catching trout throughout the trip, and helped us out as needed. We had a successful trip, with both my wife & I catching multiple fish each. My wife even reeled in a 22 inch rainbow trout, a catch of a lifetime.
I highly recommend Derek for a fishing charter, and for all skill levels and experience.

Captain Derek was great! The boat and equipment was clean and in good shape. He put me on the fish right away and had steady smallmouth action for most of the 4 hour trip. No whoppers but several decent size fish. I will be recommending him to friends and family if they will be in the area.
