Fish the waters of the west coast with Bubba Jean Sportfishing, a company that is fully authorized by the Port of San Diego to operate Fishing Charter trips! Captain Mike Long holds a USCG 100-Ton Merchant Mariner Credential and has more than 40 years of experience fishing US & Mexican Offshore/Inshore waters, Mexico’s Coronado Islands and San Diego Bay. Having a guide with that much experience is always a plus, especially if you’re a novice angler or simply don’t have much experience fishing around San Diego.

No tackle? no problem!! We provide all fishing equipment, terminal tackle, live bait, ice, Mexican documents (as required), bottled water, chips plus our Snacklebox full of granola bars, and assorted candies. Our Webspinner Custom Fishing Rods are paired with Okuma reels for every angler aboard to fish all game species!

We also provide USCG-approvied/required lifevests for children under 13 years of age.

Your adventure starts on an Albemarle 280 XF. The Express Fisherman, at 31-feet overall, accommodates up to 4 guests with ease. She is renowned in the fishing world for her comfortable ride in any sea state. She’s powered by twin 240 HP Yanmar engines, cruises at 20-24 knots and features modern navigation/fish-finding electronics, a multimedia system, a 75-gallon live bait tank and a private toilet on board.

There are all kinds of fish you can catch in our waters, depending on technique and where you go. We’ll target several types of Tuna, Yellowtail, Dorado, Lingcod, Rockfish, Halibut, Calico Bass, plus more.

Epic Fishing Trip

Our fishing trip in San Diego Bay with Captain Mike and Karen was an amazing experience. Their warmth and expertise created a welcoming environment from the start. The husband and wife team made everything easy. . Captain Mike's knowledge of the bay and everything in and around it, was impressive. The day resulted in a variety of catches, including bass, halibut, and sharks. Someone was always reeling in a fish. Karen's assistance getting the trip booked and knowing what to do and expect was excellent. The boat was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, and had all the top-notch gear, including custom rods. Beyond the catches, the fun and professionalism of the trip set it apart. The experience was memorable, and everyone, regardless of fishing experience, had a great time. For an unforgettable fishing adventure in San Diego, Captain Mike and Karen are highly recommended. A return trip is highly anticipated! Thanks so much!

Great day on the water in San Diego

Thanks to Capt Mike and Karen for giving us a great day of fishing. With their guidance we had the perfect day on the Bay - where a wide variety of fish were biting. Booked this trip for my father's day. My 5yr old son and my 72 yr old father and I. Hands down one of the best experiences I've had with my son. I travel a lot for work so every moment with my son I cherish. This trip hit all the marks, caught a ton of fish, and was the best father's day ever.
