Come spend a fun and exciting day with Captain Dan Denton and Fin & Tonic Charters! Captain Dan has been a fisherman his entire life and has over a decade of experience fishing and exploring the pristine waters in the Charleston area. Captain Dan is a US Navy veteran, USCG certified boat captain, and a licensed charter boat operator. Join him in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina and have a lovely stay on the water!

The captain’s boat "Fin & Tonic" is a 26’ Calcutta power catamaran. The soft ride, stability, and performance of the Calcutta are superior to any boat in its class. It can sit up to 6 guests, runs on twin 140 HP Suzuki engines, and is equipped with outriggers and a livewell. To enhance your experience on board, there’s a multimedia system you can use, a wireless trolling motor, and Yetti coolers. The vessel is also rigged with all the latest navigation electronics and safety equipment to ensure a fun and safe day on the water.

The species you can fish include King Mackerel, Red Snapper, Black Seabass, Mahi Mahi, Scamp Grouper, Spadefish, Redfish, and more. You can reel them in using bottom and deep sea fishing, trolling, spinning, and jigging. You’re free to keep all the fish you catch.

Captain Dan covers you for all the fishing tackle, bait, licenses, and catch cleaning as well. What you should bring are only snacks and drinks.

Another killer trip with Captain Dan! Really appreciate his friendship, knowledge, skills, and professional equipment (including a brand new boat that is 5 star as well). No need to look elsewhere-convenient location to all areas around Charleston. Highly Recommended!!

Fishing trip of a lifetime

Full Day Trip – Bottom Fishing on May 23, 2024 • 2 adults

My wife and I booked a charter with Captain Dan for our anniversary. Having taken numerous charters in my life, I can honestly say this was the best fishing experience of my life. Capt. Dan knows where the fish are! We caught at least 7 different species of fish and easily could have caught more. During our trip we got to see dolphins, barracuda, and a manatee. We were consistently catching large fish all day. The bite was so consistent we intentionally tried to catch smaller fish but the larger fish kept biting our baits instead. The highlight catches of our trip were my wife’s amberjack weighing over 40 pounds and I caught a shark weighing over 150 pounds! Book Capt. Dan for a trip of a lifetime.

Half Day Nearshore

Half Day Trip – Shark Fishing (AM) on August 5, 2023 • 1 adult • 1 child

Captain Dan is world class! If you’re looking to fish Charleston, he’s your guy. We originally booked an inshore trip, but due to king tides we had to pivot to a nearshore. Credit to the Captain here as some captains would have just taken my money and we wouldn’t have caught anything. Captain Dan knows the water, the tides, and how to catch fish. I’ve fished all over the world and can honestly say that this Captain knows how it’s done. Rigs were always set, boat was clean, tackle was ready, plenty of bait onboard and he was always willing to teach us something new. We had a busy day ripping drag and having fun. My son and I had a blast and were exhausted by the end of the charter from reeling in all day! Thank you Captain Dan, we’ll be onboard again sometime soon!

Fishing with Dan

Half Day Trip – Shark Fishing (AM) on July 19, 2023 • 4 adults

Although the weather did not allow us to get out on the big waters Captain Dan adapted and we overcame it. We started out with Capt. Dan catching some live bait for us which the kids found very impressive, let’s be real, so did I. We were able to catch some black sea bass right off the bat just casting on our own while Dan got the big rods set up. We landed two sting rays pretty quickly, then a spinner shark followed, which led into hooking into a 35 minute battle with a 250 pound bull shark which we successfully landed, along with a bonnet head and sand bar shark. Dan has earned some repeat customers with this trip. Highly recommend!
