I can’t thank Capt Joe enough for what turned out to be a trip of a lifetime for my son and I! His communications with us were so helpful in getting to and parking at the marina. He gave us options on the types of fishing available and what we wanted to do. Being complete noobs we basically told him we would follow his lead on what he thought was best for the day and boy was that a great decision on our part. It was the opening of blackfish season so he took us out to a reef where he knows the blackfish typically bite. Given it was day one he cautioned us and tampered our expectations but boy or boy were they biting. He showed us how to get a half crab on a hook and after explaining how to fish for the sneaky elusive blackfish we were off! We were on fish right away and it was very challenging knowing when to actually pull up on the rod to hook one that was stealing our bait but man that was some FUN fishing!! Capt Joe would watch our rods and let us know we had a bite but by the time we reacted the grab was gone!! I honestly can’t remember how many we caught to include black seabass (definitely over 20) but ended up with 3 chonkers that were keepers. He then asked if we’d like to catch some blues to which we both responded YES! He took us out a little further and set us up for diamond jig which we had never done. No sooner did he drop the lure and a fish was on! We only kept 5 but I’m quite sure we caught over 30 if not more and it was so much fun! Capt would look over at his instruments and say “ ok guys we should be getting a hit any second!” and boom we were on. There were multiple occasions when we all were hooked onto some fish. We even had a bonus false albacore that put up one heck of a bite. If you want to actually fish and not sit in a chair trolling for our we HIGHLY recommend you book with Capt Joe (One More Drift Charters). We fished for a solid 7 hours and my son said it was his best day ever!! Capt Joe exceeded all of our expectations. His knowledge and patience with a couple of Googans (new term we learned) was outstanding! Thanks again Capt for a day we will never forget and we will see you again next year!!

My brother, nephew, son and I spent the day fishing with Joe. What a fantastic day it was. He put use on the fish! We all got our limit of Stripers with plenty of additional fish caught. We also had fun catching Tautog with some Porgy's mixed in. Joe is extremely knowledgeable and shares that knowledge with you. Highly recommend Capt Joe and his whole operation. Seas were a bit rough to start, so I received several updates in advance and en route. We decided to go for it and things calmed down considerably over the afternoon to a really beautiful day by the end. Joe had several spots in mind, so we started off fishing for porgies and sea bass (and a dog fish), and ended with a couple of bluefish. Lost track of how many fish we landed, but we ended up keeping about 25 porgies, blues, and black bass. They were obsessively clean and organized on the boat, and had everything cleaned and packaged by the time we were back at the dock. My older son got a bit seasick and Joe quickly offered some meds that got him back on his feet. I was there with three teenaged boys in total, and Joe was really great with them. Probably helps that he coaches high school soccer in his spare time (HOW he manages all of that, I don’t know!). We are already planning a return trip to hit the striped bass season! Capt Joe and his mate, Josh, were very professional and organized. They quickly assessed us, our fishing abilities and what experience we were hoping for - and then catered the trip to exceed our expectations.
