Based out of Southport, Hounddog Fishing Charters is your ticket to a memorable time on the water.
Come on aboard with Capt. Artie, whose main priority is to get you on some fish. Expect to use techniques like light tackle, bottom fishing, trolling, jigging, and spinning, based on the species you’re targeting. Speaking of which, you have the option of 4 to 6-hour trips, where you’ll be fishing for the likes of Spanish Mackerel, Redfish, Flounder, and Black Drum, depending on the specific season and the day’s weather.
Your fishing adventure starts on a 21’ Nauticstar boat that can safely take up to 4 anglers. This boat features an ice box and a wireless trolling motor.
All the necessary fishing gear is included in the price of your trip. All that’s up to you is to use it as best you can. As for fishing licenses, everything will be taken care of by the captain so you don’t have to worry about it.
You’re welcome to keep all legal species caught during the trip.

Captain Artie was amazing. we lit out and within 15 minutes we were catching croaker and flounder. Although it wasn’t flounder season and we couldn’t keep them it was still a great time. Then we scooted around some other spots and caught a few fish here and there. Then he put us on the red drum! That was so amazing to catch these big boys while fishing with my twin 20-year-old sons. We had a blast. This Captain knows what he’s doing so if you want a good fishing trip at a reasonable cost… This is your Captain.

Nice Trip

We'd like to thank Capt Artie for a nice trip. He was very personable and accomoodating which was a plus. He absolutely knows the inshore waters. We asked for enough fish for dinner and anything above that was a bonus. We got that and then some. He did a fantastic job. If you have a small 2 to 3 man party, that wants a few hours on the water, I definitely reccomend this charter

Great Charter Guide

I would definatly reccomend going out on a charter with Capt Artie. He was patient with my 11 yr old son and put him on the best fish of day. This was our first time to North Carolina. We went out for a 6 hr trip and right from the 1st spot we were catching fish. In our trip we caught a over 10 different species of fish that we had never seen before. It was a trip that all of us will never forget.

Early June Outing
4 Hour Trip – Inshore/Nearshore on June 6, 2025 • 3 adults
June can be a tough month to fish. But despite the less than ideal time of the year, rainy, and windy weather, Captain Artie still made it happen. I booked this trip for my father, brother, and I and Captain Artie made it one to remember. We kept two 26 inch reds and a just below 20 inch black drum. Artie knew exactly where to go, and even was calling out exact spots a fish would be sitting, and 99% of the time, he was right. He knows this water and the fish better than anyone. He is the man! Will definitely be coming back.

We caught several different species of fish. Flounder, Red Fish, Croakers, a Puffer Fish(this one was really cool) and others. We had a great time fishing with him. He joined in on our joking around with others like we were all old friends. I would recommend this to anyone wanting to have some fun and catch fish. Great time!
