Home Again Old Florida Adventures run angling trips out of Longboat Key and offer to show you what the local fishery is all about.
Come on aboard with Capt. J.D., whose main priority is to get you on some fish. Expect to use techniques like bottom fishing, trolling, drift fishing, jigging, and spinning, based on the species you’re targeting. Speaking of which, you have the option of 4 to 8-hour trips, where you’ll be fishing for the likes of Cobia, Cero Mackerel, Bonito, Spanish Mackerel, Groupers, and Snappers, depending on the specific season and the day’s weather.
Your adventure begins on board a 24’ Aquasport boat that can fit a maximum of 4 anglers. The boat is fitted with a toilet and an ice-box. All the necessary fishing gear is included in the price of your trip. All that’s up to you is to use it as best you can.
When it comes to fishing licenses, everything will be taken care of by the captain so you don’t have to worry about it. You’re welcome to keep all legal species caught during the trip.

When booking this trip, I messaged JD and said I was interested in catching fish to eat. Once on the water, We started trolling and had our first Spanish mackerel within 10 minutes, shortly after we caught our first King, what a pleasant surprise!! The second half of the day we spent reef fishing and caught plenty of snapper! JD recommended Mar Vista to cook our catch & they did not disappoint, I highly recommend a day on the water with JD

We had such a great fishing trip. Capt JD was great with our boys, told us all about the fish and the area, explained the gear we were using, and made sure we caught a variety of fish. He was friendly and comfortable to talk to, his boat and gear were great, he was quick to respond to messages, cleaned our catch so it was ready to cook, and even took time to point out dolphins and sea turtles. We will definitely book with Capt JD again!

It was a phenomenal fishing trip!

We had an unforgettable day deep sea fishing! We caught plenty of snappers and groupers, plus a Spanish mackerel, squirrel fish, and even a triggerfish. Along the way, we were treated to amazing sights — dolphins swimming nearby, a graceful sea turtle, crabs, and even squid.
Captain J.D. was outstanding — so patient and accommodating, especially with our 12- and 14-year-old boys. He made sure everyone was comfortable, safe, and having fun the entire trip.
We highly recommend this charter to anyone looking for a fun and memorable adventure on the water. We’ll definitely be booking again!

My wife and I went out with JD for the second time, and had an absolute blast. I can't say enough about this captain. You can tell he really just loves fishing. Super easy going and down to earth. I've been on a bunch of chartered trips, good and bad, but JD goes above and beyond, every time. He has tons of experience in this area, and knows some great spots. If we drift out of the bite he moves us back on. It feels like I'm just fishing with a buddy. He was right there to help my wife bait the hook or remove a fish, but let me do my own baiting and removal (which I enjoy doing). He doesn't stare at the clock, even stopped on the way in to try trolling for Spanish mackerel, just in case they were biting. He didn't cut the trip short even knowing we had to filet out 32 fish after. Can't wait until next time.

Great Day of Fishing

Captain JD was great. We booked a 6 hour tour and he was on time and ready to go when we arrived.
JD knew where to go to find the fish. We trolled for Spanish Mackrel and caught a bunch. We then transitioned to fishing off the bottom and caught a variety of grouper, snapper and even a couple sharks.
Boat was clean and in great shape - with a toilet just in case. JD was very pleasant and patient with my family. We caught more fish than we could eat.
Would 100% recommend Captain JD and his boat to anyone looking for a fun day at sea catching a variety of fish.
