If you’re ready to discover fishing in the Virgin Islands, look no further than Virgin Islands Sportfishing! We offer trips departing from St. Thomas or St. John.

Depending on the time of year, you might hook into Tuna, Wahoo, Mahi Mahi, Yellowtail Snapper, Red Grouper, Gray Triggerfish, Sailfish, Marlin, and who knows what else! You can expect to do some trolling, drifting, bottom fishing, or maybe something more specialized in this area. Its really up to you.

You’ll be able to keep some of the fish you catch. Twenty pounds on half-day trips, 30 pounds on 3/4, and full-day trips. Catch cleaning is available so that you can eat your fish later. Your next meal doesn’t get any fresher than that! Planning a family adventure? Kids are absolutely welcome!

You’ll be fishing aboard a 32’ Sea Vee with a capacity for 6 passengers. It has outriggers, downriggers, and all the essentials no fishing machine can run without. Capt. Eric will provide rods and reels for you, as well as lures. Live bait is provided.

Your fishing license for the day is covered by the charter boat, so all you have to do is show up ready for a good time! Keep in mind that some fish may have harvest limits or closed seasons. Simply ask and your captain can tell you more. You can’t go wrong when you bring sunglasses, sunscreen (non-spray), and snacks. Club soda, water, and ice will be available for you, but feel free to bring any drinks you like.

Captian Eric was amazing

Half Day Trip on November 24, 2025 • 6 adults

Fish on the first 2 minutes of hook in water and it continued all morning. Mahi Mahi, Barracuda and shark when trolling. Amazing Snapper, and Rainbow runners in shore. will be eating good for the week here. Caught and released a bunch of other fish including a huge sweet Porcupine puffer, beautiful Trigger and King fish, and random others. Hooked on a giant shark, but after 20 minutes of fight he bite line. Captain Eric knows the prefect spots to catch it all. probably caught 40-50 fish in half day. it was amazing.

Great family friendly fishing trip

I planned a trip on the Stevie Lou and took my wife, Dad, Grandma and Son. It was a great trip for the 6 year old and 82 year old. My boy was being grumpy at the beginning but really perked up at the end when he got to feed the pelican and the sharks the extra bait. My family was really skeptical because they don't fish but I insisted that it would be a great experience whether you knew how to fish or not. Captain Eric delivered on my promise. He walked everyone through the best method to catch fish and we caught enough for a bountiful dinner. I think we brought home 5 or 6 different species plus had 3 or 4 we had to throw back. My wife caught a big mean barracuda and I got a reef shark. It was also nice that Captain Eric picked us up in St. John.

Great time fishing with Captain Eric in St. Thomas

Half Day Trip on August 13, 2025 • 5 adults

My family of 5 (w 3 younger adults) had a great time fishing with Captain Eric out of Compass Marina in St. Thomas. His boat was immaculate and his knowledge was immense. We tried for some big trophy fish, but settled for enough for two dinners (Mahi, Rainbow runner, and Black fin tuna). My wife (first time fishing) even caught a 150lb+ nurse shark! He skillfully filleted and prepared our catch when we arrived back to dock. We may not be the most skilled fishermen, but Captain Eric was patient and a great instructor. Here’s to tight lines and great times!!!

Took my three boys (ages 12, 14, and 18) fishing with Eric. Fantastic time! Eric really knows his stuff. And he’s great at explaining and teaching everything as well. Before the trip began he gave a few different options based on how comfortable everyone was with being offshore. He takes everyone’s experience level, goals, and concerns into account. The boat was the perfect size for us. No too crowded. And he has a cooler with drinks which was nice of him as well. If you’re comparing him to anyone else, pick him because he is knows what he’s doing, is a super nice guy and you’ll definitely catch fish. I honestly can’t imagine him never catching fish. All of his reviews are totally legit and accurate. He even gave us recommendations on where to take the fish to have them cook up and awesome meal and some killer beach spots to hang out. Thanks for a great time. We’d rebook with Eric in a heartbeat.

Trip of a lifetime

Half Day Trip on May 23, 2025

My family and I took an offshore trip with Capt Erick 5/23/25. When I say the trip was amazing, it truly is an understatement. Even his communication before we even landed on the island was incredible. He setup a game plan taking sea conditions in mind as well as the safety of my 7 and 9year old kids. We went off shore trolling for a while. And both my son and I hooked up on Skipjack tunas and were Fighting them side by side. An angler and a father’s dream. Then we targeted sharks after trolling for a few. That did not take long at all to produce, hooking into a 200lb reef shark. Capt Erick really is a master of his craft! Once our arms were soar from fighting the Tunas and Shark lol . We saw birds working , Capt Eric wasted no time to capitalize on the opportunity. And what happened next was absolutely incredible! We hooked into 8rainbow runners, 1 yellow tail snapper and 1 needle fish in a matter of 15 minutes! Mind blowing seeing how Capt Eric would work the tackle and bait was truly impressive. My family and I can’t thank Capt Erick enough for the priceless memories he provided us. Icing on the cake was when we ran into him the next day at a restaurant, and he bought me and my wife a drink. Goes to show the high class gentleman he is. I highly recommend any one looking to fish in the beautiful island of Saint Thomas. To contact virgin Island Sport fishing with Capt Erick .
