Based in Sooke, BC, you’ll be positioned within minutes from massive salmon and halibut, ready for the taking.
You can expect a welcoming environment, full of positivity and encouragement. Captains Wayne and Chris are very personable, and you’re sure to love fishing with them!
On these trips, it’s common to troll for salmon, or jig bottom fish such as halibut. Fish caught during the trip are yours to take home, so long as they're within the legal limit. Wayne and Chris will offer to clean your catch for you, or to have it taken to a processor for shipping within Canada. Now that's dinner!
Trips with Full Melt Charters are open to the whole family and children of all ages, so get 'em offline and onto the water! Captains Wayne and Chris have a long history of outdoor leadership with children, and will always have a supportive, enthusiastic and encouraging attitude with your kids.
You'll be casting lines from a 23 foot Grady-White fishing boat with room for 5 passengers. It has electric down-riggers and all the essentials. You can always expect a clean boat, outfitted with top of the line fishing gear and navigational equipment. There's a toilet on board for your convenience. Your captain will provide all the help and equipment you’ll need to catch fish, and you’ll notice his desire and willingness to spread his knowledge.
Captains Wayne and Chris will offer instruction and direction on how to land the fish, but the rod will be in your hands!
You will need to buy a local fishing license before the trip. This information is available online, or you can ask the captain.
It's always wise to bring extra layers, sunscreen, a hat, bottled water, and sunglasses. Alcohol is allowed in moderation.

While we fish at home often we were looking to fish for halibut for the first time. From the first booking and communication right to the end of the trip we had no issues and felt very prepared. We et at the Crab Shack and met captain Wayne and Chris. We were heading out with Chris who prepared us, got a feel for our comfort level and answered all of our questions as we traveled out for the day. We started off hitting Dogfish (which was still a bit fun) and quickly got to Sable-fish, Cod and then the mighty Halibut. We had so much fun and enjoyed the day so much. We can't wait to go again. Thank you Wayne and Chris for a GREAT experience!

Spectacular fishing experience
Evening Trip - Salmon Trolling on August 14, 2025 • 3 adults
Captain Wayne was fantastic!! He was communicative beforehand, punctual, and very knowledgeable! He really worked hard, monitoring the lines & making sure there wasn’t any seaweed or shakers occupying the hooks. We had a LOT of action. We hooked Chinook, Coho & pink salmon. We got our max catch for Chinook, a lot of pinks too. There were a lot of fish released . . . We took the sunset charter. The weather was gross, so we didn’t catch the sunset, but we caught lots of fish, and had a great time!!
We HIGHLY recommend Full Melt!!

We had such a great time on our fishing trip!!! Captain Chris was a great gide and very knowledgeable, we learned a lot from him. We landed 3 Different types of salmon. Coho,Chinook,Pink. Captain Chris was very patient with us 4. He did everything like bait the lines for the fishing poles and took the fish off the hook for us. He showed is what fish we could keep and which to let go so we could keep within the Canadian 🇨🇦 rules for sustainability. We would highly recommend chartering with Full Melt charters. Great experience for a family of first time anglers

We had a great day aboard the Full Melt with Captain Wayne. We had zero fishing experience and Captain Wayne guided us through the whole procedure. Knowledgeable, personable and chill, Captain Wayne does his best to make this experience enjoyable. We caught 14 Salmon and left happy. Totally exceeded our expectations. Just remember to layer up and wear wind proof clothes. We had a brilliant and calm day, but it’s cold on the water. Appreciated that there is a small toilet. A great experience and our teenage boys loved it. Thank you for a fabulous trip!
