Around here the fishing is popular for Amberjack, Pacific Barracuda, Mahi Mahi, Blue Marlin, Striped Marlin, Shortbill Spearfish, Bluefin Trevally, Bigeye Tuna, Skipjack Tuna, Yellowfin Tuna, Wahoo, and more with any luck. You’ll target your catch by spinning, popping, trolling, jigging, bottom fishing, or maybe something more specialized in this area.
Families who love fishing together will be glad to know that kids are welcome aboard! Children must wear life vests, so find out if the appropriate size is available on board. Also, remember to bring snacks so that nobody gets grumpy on an empty stomach!
You’ll step aboard a 25' Parker 2520 Pilothouse with a capacity for 6 passengers. It has all the essentials no fishing machine can run without. There’s a toilet on board for your convenience. Your captain will provide rods and reels, along with lures.
It’s recommended to bring sunblock (non-spray), and sunglasses. There will be some drinks on offer, but let the captain know if you wish to bring your own. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, but try to avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles.

Aloha Kauai Sportfishing
Captain Austin was easy to work with as far as answering any questions I had prior to the trip. We actually fished with Captain Braden….he was very easy to work with and was great about sharing information about the fishery. We went out and found the signs of what we were looking for….several other boats saw us and decided to come over. Captain Braden noticed that the fish got shy and it was time to leave the fleet for our own fish. We got into another batch of fish and started heading back when out of nowhere We had a nice big take down…..after a nice fight we ended up with a 80-90 lb yellowfin. Great day on the water…..thank you for a great trip.

Don’t go if prone to seasickness
Capt Braden was an awesome captain! We caught 5 yellowfin tuna! He was good about changing up lures when we weren’t catching anything and we got giant cuts of fresh tuna at the end! There were six of us tourists on the boat. 2 were super sick the whole time. I am 25 weeks pregnant but did not feel sick at all, but I really never get motion sick. The ride was super rocky and fun, but not for my husband or one other person who were sick almost the entire time. Me and another girl did end up throwing up toward the end, but I honestly didn’t really feel nauseated. The other girl thinks she might have felt sick at the sight of the bloody tuna. My husband has been fine on boats before but this was way more waves than he’s ever experienced. We live Seattle so he’s been fishing on the Sound before. Maybe try taking meds. He didn’t take anything before the trip.

Great experience!
We had a great experience with Austin and would definitely use him again. The day started slow, but we ended up catching 4 spinjack tuna. We hooked a big fish, which we think was a 75-100 lbs yellow fin, but eventually lost it. I also got another spinjack right up to the boat but it came off before being gigged, but that's part of fishing. We had kids, 15 and 12, aboard and they had a blast. I was a little surprised about how the catch is handled, and it's worth knowing. Austin cleaned one of the tunas for us to eat while on the island. He explained that spinjack doesn't freeze well and that cleaning that many fish isn't part of the package. He offered to let us take all of the fish and clean and process it ourselves, but ultimately we opted against it. He explained he usually trades or just gives it to local families, which I was happy with. I just wanted to know it would be eaten and not sold.

Captain Braden was amazing
We went out this morning on a charter with Captain Braden. He was very thorough with explaining the basics of sport deep sea fishing to someone who is new to this type of fishing. He kept us entertained with his stories of prize catches he’s had while we were waiting for something to bite. He had a few tricks up his sleeve to help get the fish to start to bite! He made our experience very fun and enjoyable (and yummy with some Ahi we caught!) thank you, Braden! Will definitely recommend this charter to others when they visit Kauai they are experts!

Great Time!
Captain Austin was an amazing guide! He was at the landing and ready to go when we arrived. We appreciated the fact that he provided all the essential housekeeping information before we headed out on the excursion. Nobody wants to have an emergency and not know where to get a life jacket or fire extinguisher. This was our first deep sea fishing experience so we asked a lot of questions, and Austin was more than willing to answer them. His personality was such, that he got along with all ages. We would definitely book with him again. Our group caught a 90 lb yellow fin tuna and a couple Skip Jack's during the 4 hour tour. We would definitely book with him again!
