Spend the day with the Cape Vincent Bass Fishing Guide and find out what fishing out of Cape Vincent in the St Lawrence River is all about! Having logged many hours on these tides, Captain Rick can tell you all about them in detail.
Around here, fishing is famous for Walleye, Salmon, and Lake Trout, but Smallmouth Bass is world-class; as a matter of fact, it just ranked #1 in the US.
You can target these Smallmouth by spinning, trolling, drifting, bottom fishing, or maybe something more specialized in this area. Capt. Rick also offers fly fishing, but you may need to bring your own fly gear.
Capt. Rick welcomes children aboard so the whole family can come and unplug for the day! Children must wear life vests, so find out if the appropriate size is available on board. Also, remember to bring snacks!
Capt. Rick runs a 21’ Skeeter center console that can carry up to 4 passengers. It comes with fishing chairs, all the essentials no fishing machine can run without. Rods, reels, and tackle are included, along with lures.
Before coming aboard, it will be necessary to buy a local fishing license for everyone in your group. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain. Some species may be off-limits or require a particular tag, so make sure you know what to expect or ask Capt Rick.
Some essentials to bring are sunglasses, sunscreen (non-spray), and a hat. Bottled water and ice will be available for you. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, just avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles.

Fishing with Rick Mitchell out of Cape Vincent was an experience I won’t forget. From start to finish, Rick was professional, prepared, and incredibly knowledgeable about the waters and seasonal bass patterns. He took the time to explain techniques, adjusted to our skill levels, and made sure we were always in the best spots. The smallmouth bass action was nonstop, and the scenery was beautiful. Great Fishing with Captain Rick

We did the 6 hour charter for Small and Large mouth bass with Captain Rick Mitchell out of Cape Vincent. He is a seasoned pro and took us to great spots. He had very nice equipment to use, Very nice lures to use, and outstanding electronics to navigate good fishing spots. Can't recommend him more highly. He was wonderful and we had a trip, brought home a great catch of small mouth bass, and we'll definitely do it again.
