Playtime Sportfishing is founded by Capt. James Brayton. Located in Fort Lauderdale operating out of Port Everglades Inlet, Capt James Brayton started off at a young age moving into sportfishing at the early age of 13.

Capt. James runs a 38’ Hatteras with a huge cockpit, rocker launcher, livewell and set of 35ft outriggers. With room for six passengers and a toilet on board for your convenience this Hatteras meets your comfort. The inside salon is fully air-conditioned and enclosed.

This 38 Hatteras is equipped with a spacious salon and restroom being fully air conditioned and a pair of 330hp Cummins providing the boat plenty of power and efficiency on your trip. With a total of 660 total horsepower the boat will capable of fishing any depths saving time from spot to spot.

The boat will be fully loaded with an ice chest for you’re drinks, beverages and food, as well as a cooler for you’re catch of the day. Fish cleaning services are provied at the end of the trip free of cost. All licenses and permits are aboard the vessel and provided for the trip. Top of the line tackle and rods are covered featuring Shimano’s most updated tackle.

A first mate will be aboard allowing a effective day of fishing. A 18-25% tip is customary for you’re mates hard work.

Our trips offer the perfect day for you and you’re group, targeting all depths, areas and techniques for the days conditions. We target offshore pelagic species including Sailfish, Mahi Mahi, King Mackerel, Wahoo, Tuna, Bonita, Big Game Sharks and more.

All safety equipment is provided guaranteeing a safe day on the water. Kids of all ages are welcome as well as all life jackets and saftey equipment being provided.

Had a great experience with capt.Jimmy and mate Christine. Fishing started off slow, which we were trolling at first. When we haven’t got any bites in the first hour or so Capt.Jimmy told Christine let’s use the live bait that they had left over the trip before. After dropping on 3 shipwrecks. All we manage was to have something cut one of our bait off. So we went back on the troll for the rest of the trip. We end up catching 8 black fin tunas. I could tell that when we weren’t catching anything it was frustrating to them for not catching anything. Which I get it from Fishing in the past. That’s why they call it fishing and not catching.

Unbelievable trip

My friends and I all have been Fishing before and not had real good success with other companies. Capt.Jimmy and mate Dylan was great to fish with. Capt. Jimmy called us the day before our trip giving us details what to bring and explaining about the sea conditions was going to be around 2 to 4 ft. We ended up catching Kingfish, mahi-mahi, and Bonita. Can’t wait to go back out with them again.

Great Time!

3 Hour Trip – Kids/Beginners on October 18, 2025 • 2 adults • 4 children

Booked 3 hour charter with Capt Jim for my son’s 11th birthday. He was awesome about communicating with me in advance about what to expect and even called the night before to update regarding the conditions. Each of the boys caught a fish & had a great time, which exactly what we had hoped for! His first mate was also kind & super helpful. Just a great time all around!

great family outing

Captain Jimmy and Dillon were wonderful and very personable. We managed to pull in a hadful of Snapper. The big fish weren’t biting yesterday, but it certainly wasn’t due to a lack of effort or knowledge. some days are just better than others. would definitely go out again with this boat and crew!
