Temperatures may be cool, but inshore fishing really heats up in the winter months here, and January is no exception! The flats are full of Snook, Redfish, and Spotted Seatrout.

Inshore fishing remains strong, with trophy-sized Redfish and Snook lurking around the North Jetty. Amberjacks start patrolling the wrecks and reefs, with Grouper species on offer, too.

March starts with a “Wahoo!” – this hard-fighting fish can be found offshore, and Blackfin Tuna are starting to show up, too. Inshore, Redfish and Spotted Seatrout are staying strong.

Seasoned anglers recommend sticking to nearshore and offshore waters as the weather heats up – luckily, there are plenty of first-class fish on offer, including Amberjack, Cobia, Tuna, and Sailfish.

It’s officially Red Snapper season! Huge specimens of this species can be found lurking around the local reefs, along with Yellowtail and Mutton Snapper. Further offshore, Tuna and Sailfish are waiting for you.

Summer is at its peak, and so is the fishing on offer! Offshore, hook Sailfish, huge Tuna, and Mahi Mahi. The reefs are abundant with Snapper, Amberjack, and Cobia, while Tarpon and Snook inhabit the flats.

Take advantage of summer vacation, and introduce your kids to fishing the Nokomis way! Tarpon and Snook inhabit the bays and flats, and fun-to-catch species such as Cobia and Barracuda can be found nearshore.

Nokomis’s inshore waters boast plenty of hard-fighting Snook year-round, but September is the month to visit if you want to battle and keep this Floridian favorite!
