An Ormond Beach fishing adventure offers up larger-than-life catches in a small-town setting. Quieter than neighboring Daytona Beach, it’s home to the Halifax River and Tomoka State Park, with both providing incredible inshore fishing opportunities. Die-hard anglers need not worry either: the offshore bite is hot year-round and the Gulf Stream awaits about 40 miles out!
Stay closer to shore and you’ll have your pick of both saltwater and freshwater inland fishing. There’s plenty of Snook, Redfish, Black Drum, and Tarpon on the menu in the Halifax and Tomoka Rivers. Venture into the Atlantic’s deeper waters and you’ll have your hands full with plenty of hard-fighting fish. You won’t need to head far out before you start hooking into the likes of Amberjack, Cobia, Kingfish, and Barracuda. For big pelagic species, go all out and make the most of Mahi Mahi and Kingfish fishing in Gulf Stream.
Taking a half day trip in Ormond Beach’s inshore waterways is a great choice if you’re looking for a laid-back family outing. The waters here are calm and you’ll go home with stocked coolers! For offshore or Gulf Stream fishing, account for travel time and opt for a full day or extended trip to get the most action.
Most Ormond Beach fishing charters launch out of boat ramps and piers along the Halifax River. These are ideal for anglers going on an inshore trip. For offshore trips, consider launching out of nearby Port Orange for more variety.
