Fishing in Ellijay, Georgia means direct access to a freshwater haven that never disappoints. The creeks around Ellijay offer great Trout fishing year round but you don’t have to stop there. Thanks to its great position, Ellijay is a good starting point for other fishing spots in North Georgia: 15 miles away from Blue Ridge Lake, 20 miles from Carters Lake, and, if you don’t mind a slightly longer ride, 70 miles from Lanier Lake.

 

Creeks and rivers in the area are perfect for fly fishing. Depending on the water levels, you can catch Trout on the fly, either from the boat or by wading. Fishing guides usually provide the equipment but it’s better to check in advance. Fly fishing is traditionally a technique that experienced anglers use but the guides around Ellijay will gladly show you the basics. If you’re after Bass or Walleye, visit some of the lakes.
