With the stunning Adirondack Mountains surrounding it, Lake George is one of the most scenic lakes in the state of New York. But besides sightseeing, it also offers plenty in terms of angling. Lake George features year-round fishing opportunities. The open water season lasts from April to December. During this time, you'll have the opportunity to reel in jumbo Lake Trout. For some more variety, there are also tough-fighting landlocked Salmon, as well as Smallmouth and Largemouth Bass, and more.
The lake starts freezing over in December, setting the stage for an ice fishing bonanza. Lake Trout will continue to bite even when the ice gets thick enough to fish through it. They're often joined by delicious Yellow Perch, which are caught in good numbers during winter.
There's good fishing all over the lake, however, many will say the northern basin is where the best Salmon action is. For Bass, you'll usually stick to the southern part of the lake and its many bays. Lake Trout, meanwhile, are most abundant in deeper portions of the lake.
