A day of fishing on Lake Tohopekaliga (or simply, Lake Toho) is closer than you think. Only a half-hour drive away from Orlando and even less from Disney World, this spot features Florida freshwater fishing at its finest. A trophy-sized Largemouth Bass is the first thing that comes to mind when you think of Lake Toho. These predators are available any time of year, with slightly better fishing opportunities during May and in the fall. Local guides usually rely on slow trolling for these heavy-pounders.

 

During your trip, you can also target Smallmouth Bass, Catfish, Crappie, and Sunfish. It all depends on which trip you book – the longer the trip, the more variety in your catch. Full day trips are also a great chance to absorb the lovely surroundings and snap some photos, while the kids are entertained with catching live bait.

 

The Lake Tohopekaliga fishing scene attracts serious freshwater anglers from all around. There are several fishing tournaments held here every year, most of them focused on catching Largemouth Bass. For starters, test your skill (and luck) at Bass Pro Tour, held in February.
