Great day. Caught dozens of mahi plus a bunch of bonito and rainbow runners. Had a shot at a huge sailfish that got away. Walked away with 30 pounds of filets.  Beautiful area, good people.

My son really wanted to go deep sea fishing during our trip to Costa Rica and found this charter as one with decent reviews and reasonably priced. So we booked it. The Capt gave misleading directions to the pier (even after I confirmed with him prior to the trip) so we ended up a mile away from the pier and had to walk there. For the Capt to meet us just to say that his friend would take us out since he wasn’t feeling well. Yet he was more interested in collecting the balance of his fee. When we got back, he must have had a miraculous recovery when he showed up at the pier with his whole family to take the boat back out. This boat had broken offshore outriggers and NO fishfinder. We spent 4 hours using rods just to get 1 bite and no fish was caught. So keep in mind that you get what you pay for. Lesson learned. Do yourself a favor and hire a REAL fishing boat

The morning nearshore tour was fine - we did not catch any fish but we tried multiple techniques so it might have just been one of those days (why they call it fishing and not catching). Weather was beautiful. Crew seemed somewhat unprofessional but were very nice and friendly. Getting on and off the boat was not ideal for older folks or anyone with mobility issues. We were told we would meet at a pier but last minute the plans changed to meet outside a restaurant 15min walk away where we had to scramble down a rock wall to get on the boat. We had to do the same but even less safely on our return. Not sure I would recommend if you have a short time in Costa Rica.

This was without a doubt the best trip I have had in years of fishing. David and Francisco were just great. You have to bear in mind that the trip almost had to be canceled as we have had two plus weeks of rain that caused several mud slides that blocked the road for most of out travel day. The entire family seemed to come together to help in making sure that we didn’t have to cancel. When we finally got to out room for the night at around nine pm I sent them one last text telling them we would be there in the morning. All in all a great trip, oh yeah we did catch a few fish.
