His love for the ocean led him to Hawaii for college, where he trained with some of the most respected charter captains in the world, mastering the art of big-game fishing in one of the Pacific’s most demanding fisheries. Even when life took him to landlocked states like Ohio and Arizona, Chris couldn’t stay away from the saltwater—taking clients on excursions to Mexico whenever he had the chance. When he finally settled in San Diego, he knew he was home. With a deep fascination for the local fishery and proximity to Mexico, Chris spent years refining his techniques and studying migratory fish patterns, working alongside some of the best captains in Southern California. He firmly believes that great captains do their homework—understanding the water, the fish, and the ever-changing conditions that make every day on the water different.
