We recently booked a half day inshore trip with Capt Jake in June. I booked the charter for my father in law who recently moved to Florida. I figured this would be a great way to show him what Florida fishing is all about and Capt Jake did not disappoint.

Jake picked our group up (3 fishermen) right on time with a live well full of fresh bait. Before arriving at our first spot, Jake explained the game plan and gave us some pointers to help ensure we would have the greatest chance for success.

It didn’t take long before the fish started to show up. Our first catch was a hard fighting redfish. After landing the fish, Capt Jake measured it to make sure it was legal size and in the cooler it went.

After a few missed bites and some more tips from Jake we were hooked up to a very healthy snook. (A fish on my father in laws bucket list) After a quick picture and a healthy release we were on the way to spot #2.

Within minutes of setting up on the second spot the drag was screaming and we were all yelling with excitement. With clear and concise direction from the Capt I was able to wrangle another healthy snook away from the pilings for a great picture before release.

After a morning of battling snook and redfish Capt Jake suggested we try one more spot for a seatrout to see if we could complete our inshore “slam.” However, Mother Nature had a different plan. But, with Capt Jake’s experience and local knowledge he was able to keep us safe and dry.

Upon returning to the dock Jake cleaned our catch while giving us some recommendations on how to prepare it and what spices to use. Dinner turned out awesome and we were able to keep our dinner guests entertained with all the stories from our morning trip. It really was the prefect ending to a great trip.

We will definitely use Capt Jake’s services again in the very near future and encourage anyone looking for a memorable day on the water to do the same. He taught us a lot and kept us laughing all day. This is a trip we will not soon forget. Thanks agin for a great day Capt Jake!

My son and I booked Captain Jake for the 2 hour trip just to get out on the bay in the morning and get a little fishing in.  If you’re strapped for time this is a great option!  We got on the water right on time and were fishing within minutes.  We caught snapper, snook, and trout! Saw some dolphins, and a sting ray, and a heron hitched a ride on bow all the way back to the dock!  It was a great trip!  Also not as expensive as some others. Jake was down to earth, really nice guy!  He’s extremely helpful, and had another rod baited and ready anytime we lost our bait or snapped the line.  All around great trip!

My son and I were in FL for less than 48, but knew we wanted to spend at least 4 of them out on the water fishing (catching). Jake had us on the on the water within minutes and we simultaneously (doubled up) had great sized redfish on our lines in no time.  We doubled up a number of times Entirely successful trip.  Jake had us in different spots catching several different species on the right baits for the fish and circumstances. Jake kept us moving and had all the knowledge.  Could not have been happier with the trip and Jake is a great guy in addition to being a great captain.  Highly recommend.

This was an excellent trip Jake was very helpful and knowledgeable He guided me through the day we caught fish. It was a great day the camaraderie was great. It was just like fishing with an old fishing, buddy. I will be coming back to fish with Jake again.

Captain Jake is RAD! My kids and I had a blast catching Grouper, Lizard fish, Reds, Tripletail, catfish..all species we are unfamiliar with. Jake was full of knowledge of the area and he was quick to bait the hooks. My kids said he was full of personality and super friendly which made it a great memory for years to come. If we come back to St. Pete’s we are booking Jake again! Thanks again Jake! May you finish the year strong!
