We took our 3 kids (ages 11, 13, 16) on their first charter fishing trip and Vince and John were patient and so great with the kids. They had so much fun, even in the light rain. One of them even caught a 27 inch walleye! We will book again!

Overall, the trip was pretty good, but we did not catch our limit of walleye because we did not receive the amount of fishing time that we paid for.  For 6 people in our group, we caught 27 fish, not bad considering a slow start.  Our entire group felt we would have got our limit of 36 if we received the full 8 hours that we booked.  The captain was too worried about getting back to the dock to get ready for his second group of the day, so we had to stop fishing after only 5 1/2 hours (11:30 am), and we were back at the dock at 6 1/2 hours.  We were on the boat at 6 am to start the trip.  It was a beautiful day, and there was no reason to head back early.  Our group was having fun until he cut us short.  We will not book with Sunsetter again.  Also, Sunsetter advertises that they clean your fish, but they did not, so we had to find someone to clean the fish which cost us an additional $80.

On a positive note, the first mate John, worked his butt off for us the entire time.  He knows what he is doing and does it well.

The captain was short handed today.but it didn’t stop him from doing what he loves best. The boat comfortably met our requirements. plenty of room and walk around space. Never had any issues. We caught fish.  There was a time where the fish wasn’t biting and out trip time was up, but he asked if it was ok if he circled back one more time.  I’m glad he did, we caught a few more.  My 3 kids under the age of 11 and youngest being 8 all had a great fun time.Great hospitality,great and funny personality.  I would request him again for another trip .  The captain and his ship created more memories for our family.  Thank you again.

We booked a fishing charter months in advance and the weather on the day of the trip was unseasonably hot for June. In less than ideal fishing conditions, Captain John and AJ worked the entire time locating fish, changing lures, and adjusting the depth of the rigs to get us fishing action. We caught several nice walleye along with some panfish on a day I am sure most boats went without a single strike. Captain John patiently spent time answering questions and gave the young men in our party a lesson in filleting fish. I cannot recommend Captain John enough if you are looking for a fishing charter on Lake Erie.
