I booked a 4-hour trip to start at 1pm. The day prior, Rising Tide contacted me to advise that the waters were expected to be rough during our scheduled charter, so they offered to change our trip to the morning when there would be calmer waters. Ive had a few charters, in BC, in Mexico. This is the first one where it was a perfect experience. The captain was bright, knowledgeable, pleasant company and hard working. When I wanted to change things it was always no problem. When things were not biting he was working the lines overtime. We brought up a large lingcod, a keeper chinook, some amazing prawns, a large rockfish, and dungeoness crab. My every request and need was met or exceeded and I just had a great day. Our group of 5 first time adult fishers really enjoyed our evening out on the water despite a low catch. Seems that the fish were staying deep but our captain Richard did everything he could to make it a rewarding and interesting experience for us. The crab pots gave a successful yield, and we were grateful for Richard’s efficient and skillful processing of the fish and crabs at the end of the evening. We had a wonderful time our guide, Russ was knowledgable. We saw humpback whales, otters, seals, porpoises, and had a memorable experience. We caught two keepable springs, a hatchery coho and a chinook to keep as well. We caught and released a massive wild coho as well as some other salmon that were too small to keep.
