A week or so ago we left the dock just after sunrise for a 6 hour offshore trip on our 36 foot Yellowfin. Every morning, every fishing charter is more exciting than the day before. Planning the night before for what could or may happen as well as planning for the unexpected is what we love. For 3 weeks a couple had been posting on the local Facebook pages they had to leave their boat they where living on for a medical emergency. Everything they owned was on that boat. Fast forward after 2 weeks the boat was spotted 40 miles off the coat of Cuba floating well. Due to the location and no immediate emergency no one was willing to make that long ride and tow the boat back in. Well in the Florida Keys we deal with some strong and constantly changing currents due to the location. We where 3 hours into our offshore trip without even a bite from. The stress kicks in because we want our clients to have a memorable experience and rarely do we go this long without action. Around 11:30 am off our starboard side we spot a boat that looks to be stopped in 800 feet of water. This was not a fishing boat and not in an area that someone would fish deep for big fish on the bottom. Thinking the worst but hoping for the best we immediately changed course and quickly made it over to the boat. Within a second I knew it was the lost boat. I was amazed the boat had floated almost 100 miles in 3 days. The first call was to the Coast Guard to let them know we found a boat the second was to make sure no one was on the boat in need of assistance. Once those important checks where done we started to fish around the boat. Wow is all we could say! We had Mahi Mahi up to 55 inches all around the boat! Blackfin tuna! Wahoo. Our clients where in awe. It was just epic fishing but even more rewarding when we got into cell range and we where able to speak to the boat owners and let them know we found their home! Not sure what was more rewarding for us on this trip but this is why we do what we do! You never know till you go. We still have chills talking about this trip and can’t wait everyday for the next one! Tight lines everyone and catch em up!

The winds in the Florida Keys are laying down, the weed lines are coming together. The water is warming up quickly which means the sought after Mahi Mahi are showing up in nice numbers. Our first Mahi Mahi trip produced a limit for our clients and the non stop action has continued. This is offshore season! For those that may not want a longer day offshore the fishing pressure on the reef lightens up and the snappers are hungry! What a great time of year. We get to fish in average temperatures of 75 to near 80 degrees normally. The folks we fish with for the most part are thrilled just to just thaw out coming from states with temperatures in the teens. The Sailfish, Kingfish, Tuna, snappers and a host of other fish are hungry burning off calories in between cold fronts here. Whether it’s on out pontoons or our 31 Steiger we are catching fish and making memories. This is why we do what we do! Book a charter before the Spring Break Rush and let’s have a memorable day!

Today we had a great family from Texas. They booked a half day reef trip. When asked why they chose us they stated because we have a electric toilet and our google reviews along with fishing booker reviews are some of the highest in Marathon. Well needless to say the bite has been incredible. We are catching black grouper, red grouper, cero, Spanish and King Mackeral to name a few. We limited out 3 people on great tasting as well as great fighting Yellowtails in 2 hours! Happy Holidays to all and let’s go fishing!

The Yellowtail and Mangrove snapper bite is in full swing. They taste great. Fight great and are not hard to catch. These fish are famous in our area and are absolutely delicious. This mahi season has had its good days and average days. Well as our vacationers slow down for a little bit. It is fitting at least for this year that the mahi are now showing up in larger schools and bigger numbers. If you can make it out for some mahi over the next month you will have a blast for sure
