Achtergrond: I have been fishing the north shore of Martha’s Vineyard since I was maybe 8. My dad fished the same waters for years. We fish for black Sea Bass, Fluke, Scup and anytning else that comes along. I grew up fishing lobster gear and still do to this day. One thing about fishing, you never know how the day will end! Always fun!
Technieken: We bottom fish for ground fish like Black Sea Bass and Scup. We use squid as bait

Thw bottome fishing is still very active with keeper black sea bass and now the large scup are in. We have seen some fluke here and there and hope they will pick up.

Captain John has a personality that makes you think he has been a friend for years! We had absolutely no problems getting on the Fish right away. I took my friend out for his birthday and he actually caught the first fish of the day and it was a KEEPER!! The Captain was attentive to my ROOKIE friend all day, giving him encouragement and excellent fishing advice!! We had many sets of double hook-ups and we caught 5 keepers that day!! Had an incredible day fishing with Captain John! From start to finish, the action was nonstop—we were reeling in fish consistently and even doubled up several times. With the kind of excitement we had, we could’ve stayed out there all day. I’d highly recommend Captain John to anyone, whether you’re an experienced angler or just starting out. He knows the area inside and out, and we’ll definitely be booking with him again next time we’re in town!

We had an incredible time with Captain John. I recommend for all ages and experience levels! We brought our two kids (7 & 4) and my mom, and everyone caught fish, and had an amazing time. We must have caught two dozen fish over a 2 hour period and even caught 2 sharks!! Highly highly recommend. Captain John was such an amazing guide and was super patient with my kids too!

There is nothing like witnessing pure joy on my son’s face! He was looking forward to this fishing trip for months, and Captain John did not disappoint! Everyone on the boat caught fish and had a great time. Captain John was the perfect host. He was engaging and fun! Can’t wait til next year’s MV trip so that we can go fishing with him again!

Taking my daughter out on her 19th birthday, along with a group of her friends, might have turned negative given that we didn’t catch any keepers.
