- Background
- USCG-licensed Captain Eric Goodrich was born and raised in upstate New York. After spending countless hours fishing and hunting, Eric developed extensive nautical knowledge when he became a mate on a charter boat on Lake Ontario. He earned a four-year college degree in Fisheries and Wildlife Management and later worked for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Eric moved to Maryland to begin a career in environmental restoration, where he started, owned, and operated an environmental restoration company specializing in stream restoration, wetland construction, and shoreline stabilization. With more than 30 years of experience in the environmental field, Eric gained an in-depth understanding of the Chesapeake Bay, local streams, surrounding watersheds, as well as currents, tides, and hydrology. Eric holds numerous professional certifications, including Chesapeake Bay Landscape Professional, Maryland Tree Expert, and ISA Certified Arborist. His lifelong passion for fisheries and wildlife management led him to establish Stella Charters LLC in January 2023. He holds a USCG Captain’s License for uninspected vessels, allowing him to carry up to six passengers and operate vessels up to 100 gross tons within 100 miles offshore. After twenty years of both serious and recreational fishing, Eric is grateful for the knowledge he has gained from friends and fellow charter captains. He is excited to share that knowledge and “pay it forward” with guests ready to explore the Chesapeake Bay.
