Customer reviews are one of my favorite parts about chartering. When a customer takes time out of their vacation to acknowledge what I did to make them happy and make their trip a memory, I am not only thankful and happy, but I’m inspired, too. On this trip, weather reports were stellar until a few hours before. Clouds rolled in, wind speed tripled and rain was forecasted. The show must go on, though. Before we started, I gave Stacey the inside track to one of the best restaurants around. So, the party arrived happy. We boarded, and it was off to my little tiny spots people overlook and where I thought fish might be in 62 degree water. Within 15 minutes, the Birthday Man (Donny) had his first hook-up. That made everyone’s day. With some dark sky, I asked everyone what music they preferred and I turned on the jams. It may have been Journey, Eagles or The Boss playing when the bite picked up. Donny scored “a keepa” at 18.25”. We had a few more fish and misses, changed spots and Donny hooked a big fat 19.5” flattie (which we released). The wind died down, water flattened out and we cruised back to the dock in quick style. Lots of laughs were had and Donny got to catch the most and biggest fish (two keepers and on a short trip, too). That’s a great charter with great people!!! Thank you, Stacey and crew! We headed out to the spot where I thought fish would be…for sure. 🌊🌊But, there were some big waves there. Everyone hung in there and our mission to catch at least one fish was accomplished. 🎣 Next, I figured everyone braved the big seas, so we hit the cove, where we also picked up some fish. Plus, I could offer some fishing lessons. The sky was blue, sun was strong and water was flat…and the boys were happy. It doesn’t get much better than that. Hi, Adam. I’m sorry it wasn’t a 5-star experience. I def. strive for that level, as my message to you stated. Unfortunately, we couldn’t target Striped Bass and Mahi because it was a two-hour Flounder charter. But, beyond my control was us running into unexpected strong winds. It was blowing much higher (20mph) than forecasted. I explained strong winds are tough for flounder fishing. We went straight to clean water, where the “bite” had been good. However, the inlet was dirty, fast drift and water was choppy. Ugh. We moved back inside the bay area to different spots I usually do well. We caught one flounder and missed a few. Usually, I’d have stay out a little longer, but your son had the #2 bathroom emergency and I had another charter. Unfortunately, two-hour trips are a small window to fish. On the charter after yours, for example, we did much better. The wind died down. That’s the good and bad of fishing.
