showed up late evening though he did give discount but bc of that the fishing was bad and it rained didn’t catch anything. I would’ve been happy with catching a tarpon but captain didn’t act like he wanted too after we only fished for them for like 10 mins. overall the captain was cool though but definitely wish he would’ve tried more harder to atleast get me one fish on board.

Amazing captain that took us around and got us on tarpon at every point we went. We talked about the local spots and different things around the island. Was very friendly and definitely want to go back with this company if I get another chance.

Our original fishing charter was canceled through another agency the day before so we tried to find a replacement opportunity.  There were good ratings so we thought we’d try Caribbean Fishing Adventures. 

Captain Gustavo was a nice guy but unfortunately was not able to support us in catching any fish.  Our trip started by with the captain trying to catch some bait for 30 minutes.  I’ve been on several charters before and in each case the captain was prepared with the needed bait, not taking fishing time to catch bait so this was a disappointing start.

We moved to a location that obviously had Tarpon based on the swirls close to the boat.  The captain explained how tarpon fishing is different from most fishing and instructed us to leave our rods in the rod holders.  He instructed us to watch the rods and if there was a bite to let the fish take it and then start reeling but not to jerk like we might set the hook with other fish. 

Throughout the day we lost about 6-7 fish.  During the day, the captain moved us to a couple different locations, anchoring, drifting, and trolling but I didn’t get the sense that he was confident in the methods we were using.  Throughout the day we didn’t really get further tips until about an hour to go in our trip.  It was frustrating this information/direction was not given to us to start the trip.

Each of us in the group has fished a lot both in fresh and salt water and we’ve had several times that we’ve returned with no fish so we understand how finicky fishing can be.  This was a new type of fishing for us and it felt as though we were not provided with helpful or timely direction to support us in catching fish on this day.  I hope we were the exception, but we will not look to schedule another charter with Caribbean Fishing Adventures. 

22ft boat i booked was used for another group, we got 17 ft boat. Captain did not go over anythind just drove the boat,. All he would say is here, or reel in. He had no interest in making this a fun trip. I asked about catching fish we could take home and i get a well thats rare we just fishing tarpon. Also, most of the bait was dead that he took out of another boat. He was very careless with the boat,  allowing it to hit the docks and also running into another boat twice that he wanted to talk to because he wanted to ask hin what the depth was because no depth finder on the boat.
