I’m sorry this trip didn’t meet your expectations. This is not the premium time of the year for Dolphin or Tuna (of which Blackfin is the only viable option). The water is simply too warm. Seaweed was also horrendous during this time making just about any surface trolling impossible. This went on for about a month and distance from shore had no bearing. I’m confident you probably observed this for yourself. In 25 years of chartering out of Canaveral, I have never seen it so bad. Still, we try to do our best given the conditions. This includes running much further than we’d like to search for pockets of clean, fishable water. When this is impossible, we switch to other tactics such as bottom fishing to try and find our clients some action. And, during this timeframe, cold water upwellings on the bottom negatively affected bottom fishing. While these cold water events don’t happen every year, they do occur more often than not during June and July. And even though we may hot have “got out to the Gulf Stream”, I can honestly say it wouldn’t have mattered with the vast amounts of seaweed present. We did indeed though cover large distances of water trying to locate action for you.

This isn’t meant to sound like I’m making excuses. Just trying to explain. Again, I’m sorry your experience was subpar.
