- Captain Mark Durante has been charter fishing for 30+ years. He was born and raised on Vancouver Island, and his father was a fisherman. Mark remembers fishing as a little kid and catching his first fish, an 18 pound Coho. That’s when he fell in love with it and used every opportunity to go fishing ever since. He spent most of his career as a captain in the southeast part of the island, and then moved back here to take care of his mother and be closer to his family. His favorite part of the job is watching people catch the fish and seeing the smiles on their faces. He loves working with beginners because of how they get excited. The captain is all about the safety and makes sure he teaches everyone how to not get into each other's way on the boat. He also teaches his clients everything they need to know to reel in their first fish.
