- As a local to Kiawah and Seabrook Island, Captain Rob Bennett has over 3 decades of fishing experience in these waters. His passion is to pass on his stories and to share his knowledge with you and your family, because in his words: “No one ever created a memory by watching TV or playing videos.”
- Techniques
- Big fish on light tackle spinning. We use a lot of popping corks with live bait. Either shrimp or minnows. We like to cast next to the grass and oyster beds and up under docks. This is where you find the redfish, trout and flounder. On days when the ocean is calm we like to fish off the beach with live menhaden. We catch king Mackerel, Blacktip Sharks, and Tarpon. On some days we also go to the artificial reefs. We troll and fish on the bottom at the reef. You catch Spanish Mackerel, Bluefish, King Mackerel, and false albacore. On the bottom we catch Black Sea Bass, Cobia, Seatrout, and large redfish.
