- Background
- I started fishing as a teenager on the Kennebec river targeting Smallmouth Bass. My friends and I would run up and down the rivers and streams on a daily basis using an old 16' aluminum boat. We used light spinning tackle and small plastic finesse worms which seemed to work best with a weightless hook. My strong desire to catch fish hasn't changed much from those times. I'm thankful I was able to grow up in this scenic area and gain a great amount of fishing and navigational experience. Now in my 30's, I'm still able to enjoy fishing the many excellent lakes, pond, rivers, and streams that central Maine has to offer. My home is within a few miles of numerous excellent fisheries that are sometimes shared with the pros from the Outdoor Channels Major League Fishing. When you live in an area as great as central Maine, you might as well be a fisherman.
- Techniques
- I prefer fishing for Maine’s warm water species using spinning and casting tackle on artificial lures. My preferred technique is whatever the fish want to eat that week. As an angler, I find it necessary to be familiar with all the techniques of fishing. The fish will then tell you the subtleties within the technique.
