I have been on approx 100 fishing charters and this by far was the worst. This year My 10 year old son and his friend came along for the experience. The captain barely acknowledged them during the day and the language he used in front of them and two them was far beyond what I would expect from someone in this position.
I enjoy working on the boat to help the captain and / or mate out during the day but this was something else. When we got to where we were going to troll he tied up a few lines told us what we should do and then went up top to drive the boat. We had a two 10 year olds and and an inexperienced fisherman when it came to trolling. We were able to make it work but were talked down to when a line got tangled or we didn’t know exactingly what to do. We did catch a few fish early which was a plus but after trolling for 4 hours and about 2 hours left in the trip we asked to try something in the sound and he told us no, with about an hour left we asked him to call it short and take us back because the kids were getting restless and had enough of the day. He looked at me like i was crazy and said he suggested we troll around for another hour to see if we could get one more. It then took a second conversation to end the trip 45 minutes early and head back.
Basically it was like he was out on his own trip at our expense and could care less about the people on the boat or the experience. Two thumbs down by a long shot.

We did not have a first mate on our trip. I loved helping to sort bait, operate boat as requested and putting rods and baits in the water. My brother in laws felt they where working for the captain and a first mate would have taken that feeling away. Great boat and great fishing, just get ready to get your hands dirty.
