We set out on the morning trip targeting redfish, Bonito, and flounder, the red fish Ware. I’m going to corporate first thing this morning, so we quickly shifted gears and started running to the next spot. By the time we came across the big school of Bonito we immediately hooked into one and started the drag screaming fun. Sue and her crew opted to keep playing with these Light tackle speedsters so we spent the reminder of the morning chasing schools as they popped up for a great fun active morning. Quick stop for sharks on the way in landed a 4’ hammerhead in the first few minutes and this crew called it a day!

This time of year we get a solid run of bonito in the area. These can be targeted by trolling or our preferred method is light tackle spin, these speed demons can chase down and attack a jig when its being cranked in at full speed and the fight is unbelievable! While they dont fair well on the table they do make excellent shark bait which is why our combo bonito/shark trips are quite popular this time of year.

This weeks trips have shown us that the summertime bite is really starting to fire, good catches of mangrove snapper and flounder during the week and good numbers of schooling reds are showing up. This is a great time of year to be on the water with warm days and calm seas along with constant fishing action. Here are a few pics of first mate Cooper with his limit of flounder.
