Lake Wanaka Trout Fishing

An awesome morning on the lake with some nice rainbow trout caught on the ever popular black and gold toby.Fish were down deep so we needed all 10 colours on the lead lines as well as some of the backing line. Conditions were only average but there is still trout for lunch today.

All caught while trolling at a depth of 12 to 15 metres.What hooks did we use,join us for some time on the lake and find out,we will prepare and cook your catch onboard or you can take your fish away with you,you will not be disappointed.

Fabulous morning. Gino was a fabulous guide, knowledgeable about the area and the fishing. We even had our fresh trout cooked up on the BBQ. Delicious! I would highly recommend Gino as a guide and the fishing experience that is provided. Great value for money and totally worth the early morning start. Thank you, we will definitely do next time we are in Wanaka.

janvier 2020. Super matinée de pêche avec des paysages magnifiques et près d’une dizaine de truites qui ont mordues !! Le capitaine connait vraiment bien les spots et donne de précieux conseils. Un BBQ sur le bateau permet de cuire votre truite en dégustation ! Un régal.

We had an amazing time fishing early morning on the wanaka lake with beautiful nature landscapes around us. We had a good catch and even ate a fish directly on the boat. I really recommend this very special and calm adventure in wanaka.

The captain was very knowledgable and you can tell he is very passionate about fishing as he takes it very seriously. He brought us to his fishing ‘paradise’ and we managed to catch 4 fishes - 2 rainbow trout and 2 brown trout! We also learnt a lot about how to catch trout in the lake. We weren’t the easiest bunch to handle but I appreciate the captain’s patience with teaching us. We were initially slightly sceptical because there were hidden costs like the fishing license not... Hi Estelle, thanks for your review. We are glad you had a lovely time fishing with us. Just to address a few points from your review; It is clearly stated on our bookings that licence costs are not included in the price of the trip. It is not a hidden cost, but licence costs vary from group to group depending on a number of factors and often change each year so it is something we need to calculate afterwards depending on when the trip goes ahead and who is on it. We also spoke about the licences over the phone before the trip went ahead and this was explained. The day you went out the conditions were very technical and required a lot of directional changes, meaning that if we had a third line in the water the chances of the lines getting caught together would be very high. I am sorry if you felt cheated in that aspect, but two lines were the best choice for that situation and everyone still got to have a go fishing and land a fish each. If you had brought this up with our captain onboard he would have happily explained to you the reason why. There is always tea and coffee and snacks available onboard, so maybe there was a miscommunication between you and the captain in that aspect, in which case I apologise. We hope you enjoy the rest of your travels and have a wonderful holiday.
