Hey Ashley, we appreciate you giving us the opportunity to take you fishing and we are sorry it wasn’t the experience you had anticipated.

There’s a few things that I can try and shed some light on to hopefully not leave you with a bad taste in your mouth about our company. As your review was one of the lowest reviews we have ever experienced and that is a hard pill to swallow.

As far as “special trip goes” unfortunately that is a term that the site itself uses for a new booking that has been created that isn’t part of the original trips scheduled. It in no way means it’s “special solely to you” we apologize for the verbiage that is used on the site. Our company fishes around 24 people a day so when you purchase (2 people) you purchased two seats on our boats.

As for the commercial nets unfortunately that is something that we deal with in our fisheries sometimes it plays a major factor in how many fish enter the river that day that is why we chose to do the upper river with the second trip in hopes that we could catch the fish that entered the river before the nets entered the water. (Unfortunately it didn’t work out well yesterday as it does sometimes) our apologies I wish we could do something different but with low king returns and kings being catch and release this season, we try to give our people the best chance possible at taking fish home. We have had a great sockeye year on the kasilof and it pains me that you were part of one of the worst days of the season.

As far as the guide not “changing tactics” there is nothing more you can do for sockeye besides move locations which he did numerous times. Sockeye are filter feeders which means they do not eat anything we can offer them so essentially standing on a river bend and trying to put the line through there mouth is all you can do. We apologize that you wernt aware that flossing is the only effective Method which in turn is the Hardest day as a guide because there’s nothing more you can do. Besides try a new location but the further down river you go the less chance at fish coming into the system because of the nets being in place. Low sockeye number days are the hardest and most frustrating day as a guide and in my 11 years of guiding and thousands of people fished there is nothing more you can do. If we could do it over probably should have just canceled the trip but you cant do that because you never know.

Lastly to touch on your pricing discrepancy and trip time…..when you create a new offer for someone on fishing booker it doesn’t have the set factors created yet. So what we had was an agreed upon price PLUS 3% sales tax due to the state. Which if you take the number we agreed on and add 3% to it you will see it was actually supposed to be .50cents more (no big deal) and giving you guys a full day trip instead of half is completely my fault. And it was a definite learning experience. I have fished countless people above and beyond the scheduled times and there’s been a lot of days where it has saved the trip by finally finding the fish. Most people reward the extra effort and thank guides for it. But I understand where you’re coming from and that was my mistake, and lastly if you read our messages I told you anywhere between 2-3 pm is when the trip would start, when we schedule afternoon trips the start time is always variable as we don’t know when exactly the first trip will come to an end. This site is very new to Alaska and I enjoy using it but it has caused a lot of headache because you have to chose a time and people think the time is exactly what time it says even though you and I had a discussion about departure times.

To conclude this reply we are appreciative that you chose our company and I’m sorry about the confusion and lack of fish.
