Techniques
The captain's half day private sportfishing trips most commonly run 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. or 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. On these trips, you'll fish for Kingfish, Bonito, Sailfish, Wahoo, Tuna, game sharks, and more. The captain's full day private sportfishing trips normally last from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. or 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. These trips will see you fish for Dolphin and Swordfish.

In September, we have been having some great late summer fishing. We were catching a variety of different fish, trolling, kite fishing, and wreck fishing. Recently, there were lots of barracudas on the 2nd and 3rd reefs. The kingfish have been biting on the troll and with live bait on the kite. My bait of choice has been Ballyhoo and Goggle Eye. We have seen more and more Goliath Grouper than ever before on the shipwrecks; even a few local divers confirmed the regional increase in population. Which is fun for anglers because, they put up a great fight and are stricktly catch and release. The Sailfish and Mahi will soon push towards the shallower reefs chasing ballyhoo and mullet bait schools. For some fishermen like myself, later summer and fall are the absolute best times of year to fish in South Florida. Seeing the Sailfish and Mahi chase bait on the surface is something you will never forget. I hope you guys enjoy my September post. See you in the fall. Captain Mike- Good Hit Sportfishing

Summer fishing in South florida has been a great one, catching king fish, snapper, Mahi and bointa regularly. Last week we had a client that wanted to target Bigger Sharks on his Tour, so thats what we did. While targeting sharks, we hooked into a 9โ€™ Tiger Shark, when the shark was coming up to the surface we noticed a few other fish Swimming with the Shark- COBIA. This is not a normal thing for this area, but with theses Cobia, there was one that was much larger than the others. This the fish that we went after. Not expecting this fish; we scrambled boatside for a bit before we could get a bait to him. after a few minutes of chaos we finally got a bait to him, and he ate it instantly. Now we have a tiger shark on the line and a large cobia, what an adventure. We eventually ended up landing both, the tiger and the cobia! Goes to show, you never know whats going to happen out there in the ocean! I hope you like my report- Captain Mike

The Mahi Mahi and Kingfish have moved into South Florida. We are catching Dolphin offshore, and Kingfish on the reef. Trolling has been the most productive style of fishing, when we find the Mahi we normally cast live baits to them on light tackle. The size has been ranging to 5-10lbs with a few nicer fish mixed in. Ballyhoo is the best bait for trolling for Mahi and live bait we preffer is pilchards for summer. The larger sharks have also been around the ship wrecks, we caufht this gaint hammerhead on a kingfish, which we fought for 1 hour on heavy tackle. You cab say its a great time of uear to go fishing. Hello fishing friends, Captain Mike here with Good Hit Sportfishing Hey there, it's Captain Mike from Good Hit Sportfishing with some January fishing news from Fort Lauderdale. While the rest of the world is experiencing freezing temperatures, we're lucky enough to have some of the warmest fishing areas in our region. This time of year, you can expect to target some red-hot fish, such as sailfish, mahi-mahi, blackfin tuna, snappers, sharks, Wahoo, and cobia. We've started the year strong with some impressive catches, including a cobia shark caught off the kite. This little guy put up a 40-minute fight on light tackle and was caught on a live goggle-eye. Amazingly, we've already seen a couple of mahi-mahi in attendance this January. Usually, we don't see these fish until the beginning of spring, but they're already showing up in the local area. Blackfin Tunas are also hitting the kite again, which is another fish that we don't expect until springtime. However, in Fort Lauderdale, we've already seen a couple of sizeable blackfin tuna. These fish are always a hit with our customers due to their acrobatics, delicious sushi-grade meat, and incredible light tackle fight. At GoodHit Sportfishing, we're always happy to fish for whatever our customers want. If you have a custom trip in mind and want to target a particular species, let us know. We're open to ideas and will tailor our fishing trips to meet your specific needs. We use various fishing styles, tactics, and bait at GoodHit Sportfishing in January.
