In our line of work, there are a lot of things that as a Captain and as a charter operator can control. Stuff like, Assertive and timely communication, being on time for departure, having the boat in perfect conditions, having the gear and tackle in good condition are some of the things we can control. The presence of fish on the area that the client selected to fish is out of our control.
As you witness, the day of our trip,  there was no bait in the buoys, there were no drift line, no bonita pods or birds. Practically no sign of life, but we did not gave up just then… we travelled 10 miles further than the selected trip just to try to hook you with a big fish in the Pearl Islands. Sadly, there was no bonito to use as live bait. But we did not gave up just then… we trolled back with teasers and a six rod spread making a lot of noise / commotion in the water trying to get the attention of a sailfish that would give us a chance to hook up.  After catching a couple of Bonito on our way back, we insisted, persisted and got you on a double hook up of jacks, not the specie you where looking for… but it was the available specie at the moment. Your 8 hour trip turned into a 10 hour + trip (no charge)... just because we, as a crew, gave the extra mile to get the rods bent.
Again, I am sorry that the conditions were completely atypical and the targeted species (and no other game fish) were not present at the moment. I wish I could control that too.

Please let us know if David received his cap from the Hotel staff, he left it in my car and I brought it to the Hotel.
