It’s not that they didn’t try hard but I don’t understand why when you pay almost $200 to fish we have to waste 45 minutes to an hour fishing for bait that should be there already. A half day is already short enough. Plus the boat we were on was very slow with no AC and not enough room for everyone to sit inside especially when NOTHING was going on in the water.

The captain spent 4 hours going back and forth between the east and west sides of Honolulu. We were only able to catch one fish in four hours. He and his team did not use different type of baits or did not take any actions for four hours to improve catch. Overall it was a boring experience and the fishing trip is over-priced. The price should be $100 instead of $800. I do not recommend the fishing trip.

The crew didn’t even talk to us. The captain gave us a briefing, no life-vest was provided , the other crew member asked our names and no more talk. 
We went for a 4hs fishing trip and did catch ZERO fish. They were moving around, literally had no idea where to go, no explanation, no words, no water… At the end the captain didnt even talk to us about what happened. They didnt even tried to talk to other boats or look in the fish radar… it was terrible. I spent almost 200 USD to do nothing in that boat .

Here’s my feedback on the charter aboard the Renegade March 7 2017

To say the captain and crew are unable to think outside the box would be an understatement. There was a young lady on board as a decky (2nd time) that had no clue and was not able to answer any of my questions or decided to provide incorrect information, it was when she said it was only her 2nd time on the boat i knew there was no point in continuing any further questions to her. She was more interested in whale’s than trying to find fish.

The only time any of the 3 crew came on deck was to go to the toilet, get a drink or some food. Other than that we the clients sat there looking out to sea or talking amongst ourselves while they sat on the top deck.

To troll for 8 hours at 8 to 9 knots with surface lures when there was absolutely no surface action is beyond belief. Hardly any birds, no bait fish, not one hit, nothing!

To not even try a deep diving, sub surface lure, even stop to do some jigging for anything to keep your clients remotely happy is mind blowing. Not one person apart from the crew touched a rod or reel. 5 rigs were changed to more of the same type of lure in the first 4 hours and then nothing. The crew looked like they just gave up.

I totally understand that you can’t guarantee a fish but i know when someone is trying to find fish and when someone is watching the clock. The captain couldn’t get off the boat fast enough when we docked.

I don’t believe i waited 3 months for this charter and all i got was an uninterested crew that really looked like they didn’t want to catch fish.

Thanks for the offer of a free trip but why on earth would i subject myself to that again! I’ve done a fair bit of open water fishing and this is the first time i have seen such incompetence.

Would not recommend!!!
