On a split charter or headboat, your fellow anglers might have different expectations. One of the many great things about a private charter is that you get to say when youโ€™ve had enough. Within a few minutes at our first stop in about 30โ€™, we were getting hammered by grouper, including this nice red caught on fresh ballyhoo plugs. The weather was great, but still, one of our guests felt nauseous. With dinner in the ice box, the group agreed to head into the beach for a dip, before finding a sheltered channel. We caught yellowtail, gray snapper, remora, mutton snapper, lane snapper, grunts, barracudas and sharks, one after the other for the next couple hours. Catching a nice one is a great way to start or finish the day, but ultimately, its about your groupโ€™s combined experience. Weโ€™d love to host you!

Another windy day kept us inshore, but weโ€™ve got lots of neat places to get out of the waves! Kids love action. We took this wondeful family from Oregon to some backcountry channels and had constant acton. Mutton snapper, mangrove snapper, grunt, ballyhoo, a remora, yellow jack and jack cravelle kept the kids busy, while mom and dad took pics and video. A lemon shark came for a quick visit but wouldnt take the bait. Seeing a six-year-old with a jack on the line will always make you smile! โ€œI got the biggest, right dad?โ€?

Weโ€™ve had a few days of almost no wind this week, both of which were booked, so we took advantage of it. For us, trolling was tough, with just a couple baby tunas, but yellowtailing outside the reef was the ticket. They were BIG! Down here we call the big ones โ€œflags.โ€ They fight hard on light tackle, and you need to getโ€™em in before a shark or โ€˜cuda takes a bite. We threw dinner for six in the ice in short order on Monday, and, with only one angler Friday, put together another nice catch for the dinner table. Donโ€™t forget your sunscreen and hat, its still sunny and hot in Key West!

Michael, his friend and both of their adult sons came out on a day that started out a lemon. Rain and lightning. We kept an eye on it for a few hours, and even cancelled once, before deciding the weather had passed. A quick ride out to 250โ€™ and we were in the tuna! A BIG mystery fish never stopped running and suddenly got cut off. It was still a little bumpy out there, so we headed in to some channels for a few snapper and a beautiful juvenile black grouper release. We turned that lemon into lemonade!
