Captain Luis initially went out of his way to pick us up in Nuevo Vallarta but arrived half an hour late.  We began trolling right out of the harbor and got into some very small fish, which for a six year old was very exciting, but for an experienced fisherman was pretty dull.  I figured that we would make a better effort to find fish but we really never got more than a mile or so away from the mouth of the harbor.  The last hour of the trip was spent working our way the mile or so back from the mouth of rio ameca, and they seemed more interested in dropping us off than trying to find a fish larger than bait.  We arrived twenty minutes early, which when combined with the twenty minutes of late, cut our trip short by almost a quarter.  Captain Luis was a really nice guy who spoke very good English, and he and his deckhand were professional and competent with a nice boat and equipment.  I just wish that our trip was not so hurried.  I know that you can never predict the fishing, but inshore trips in banderas bay should range much further than a mile from harbor if that isn’t were any any larger fish are.  A better effort to move around and find fish, especially after being late would have been appreciated. I wish Captain Luis the best of luck.

OK, fish were not biting, but please do not bs me by telling me we are moving to another of your “secret” spots only to find other boats fishing in the area.  The day
went from bottom fishing to chasing the birds to find fish.  The only saving grace is that we had a group of mating whales off our boat.  Which is worth something.
