I am a firefighter and run charters on my days off from the fire house. I have been fishing the waters off of the Mississippi coast since i was old enough to hold a fishing pole. I stay on the water and on the fish year round. I fish for just about anything that swims in our waters. I don't just target one or two types of fish like a lot of people. That being said, my specialty is wade fishing the islands for Speckled Trout and Redfish.

1-1-20 Today I had my buddies son out on the water with me for a morning of fish tagging. We put the first fish of the year into the Blazer Bay shortly after day light. And that was quickly followed by Sethโ€™s personal best Speck. A beautiful chunky 21โ€ fish. We made steady work of tagging and releasing quality fish all morning, using up the last 25 tags I had. Once we were out of trout tags we made a move and went looking for redfish. After an hour of beating the marsh banks we had tagged and released 5 slot sized reds with the biggest being 24โ€. Back on the trailer and headed home by noon.

Made a solo catch and release trip this morning just to get out and enjoy a morning on the water. It ended up being one of those great fall mornings inshore we dream of all year. It seemed like every spot i pulled up to the fish were just wanting to jump in the boat. Stopped counting reds at 4 limits of keepers, many more shorts, 2 limits of keeper sheeps with a hand full of shorts, a hand full of puppy drum, maybe 20 specks that were all cookie cutter 14.5โ€, a ground mullet and white trout here and there, and a beautiful flounder that took a ride home with me for dinner. All on live shrimp under a cork or drop shot rigged for around structure

These trips consist of covering a lot of miles and fishing for only a few minutes at a time. But is some of the most exciting fishing we have. And OCTOBER is the month to catch a true trophy fish.

Today I had Nicholas and Keith out on the big salty pond, all the way from Dallas TX. Their #1 goal for the day was to do battle with big bull reds on light tackle. The reds showed up and showed out and had the drags screaming all morning long. We boated and released a dozen big bulls along with a hand full of sharks. And boxed 2 bulls along with a slot red and a hand full of specks. These guys were a blast to fish with, Keith had to have said WOW!!!! 100 times today. Before we made it back to the dock they were already planning on coming back to do it again. The fishing is great. And my schedule is wide open. Give me a call and come get you some SALTWATER THERAPY.
