My wife & I rented the 35’ boat due to the fact our 2 kids and spouses were coming with us. Captain and crew were great with explaining everything and trying their best to get us hooked up despite the rough waters. We did manage to catch 5 Bonito’s. Pick up & drop off were went without a problem. Would definitely recommend this excursion!

My wife and I went out November 24th for a half day. Caught 5 Dorado by 10AM. Were surrounded by a pod of Dolphins at one point and saw quite a few turtles. The crew was great, so was the boat and all the tackle. Highly recommend spending the extra money on this rather than a panga. It’s too hot here for a small boat. You need the shade and you don’t have to wear a life jacket. Also, these waters can get a bit rough, so you need a sizable boat. These are fertile waters, so just go for it.

The trip was very professional and the crew was great. The fishing was slow but that’s why they call it fishing and not catching. We did get a nice mahi-mahi and a skipjack tuna. There was a little bit of language barrier for us so make sure you clarify how you want your fish cleaned/fillet to take home with you, Transfer service from our rental home was timely and comfortable and the boat was well equipped. Highly recommend

We did drop in on some tuna closer inland and were able to fight some fish Ferrari’s. Fight like hell for 2ft fish.

Well worth the money 💰

Save your money and select a half-day of fishing in the morning. 

Fishing Trip - late February 2023

PROS
Boat captain and crew were friendly and helpful.
We were picked up at the hotel at 5:45AM and were on the water by 6:45AM.  The taxi to and from the resort was included. 
We caught 6 very large Mahi-Mahi fish.  Several took 20 mins or more to reel in.
We saw many turtles, pods of dolphins, and humpback whales.
The crew provided fresh fish bait.  It is not necessary to purchase “live” bait.
They had water and some beer on the boat.  If you have more than 4 people that drink beer you will want to pick up more for the trip.  (Also Let the Captain know so they can pick this up for you.)
CONS
We kept traveling farther from the coastline, but it was a waste of time.  Again, we caught all 6 fish in the first couple of hours and were relatively close to the shore.
The boat was very slow.  We spent way too much time coming back.  Again, we caught all the fish within the first couple of hours.
A full 8 -hour day is NOT necessary.  You will only catch fish in the morning. 
The crew wanted to keep all the fish.  You have to insist on keeping some. 
Bottom line
We had a great time and enjoyed the morning.  The afternoon was hot and boring.  The lesson learned - fish a half-day and in the morning.  This was confirmed by many of the locals after our trip.

Note: If you plan to take some of the fish back for the chef at the hotel to cook, make sure you communicate with the hotel staff exactly what you want.  This worked out for us, but only after sorting through some confusion.
