Mechanical Issues and Safety Concerns: Mechanical problems with the boat cut the day short. Launching nearly an hour late, and slow peddling from fear of throttle issues. Also, broken step on ladder caused injury. Lack of Basic Amenities: The charter did not provide enough drinking water. Our captain Javier and first mate Lalo met us in the designated spot and helped us with our extra gear for the day, they did there best to meet all of our expectations. The Fishing was fantastic and they kept us on the bite for the whole day. We did hook a very large marlin, and began a potentially huge fight, but the clever old fish saved himself after an exciting 10 minute battle.

It was a perfect day with the stars (and sun) aligned and we caught 5 Mahi Mahi (El Dorado) within 2 hours. The guide Francisco and boat captain Lalo were great in getting us to the fishing spot, hooking the bait and letting us reel in the fish. It was the first time doing deep sea fishing, I don’t know if we do it again if it will ever get any better than this day.

Dorado in good numbers. Spotted Marlin but not taking bait. Captain put us on fish. Had triple hook ups. Had to come in early caught limit.

We had a fantastic time with Javier and enjoyed fishing near La Paz. Javier was constantly working to make our fishing trip successful and we caught three Mahi, right away. After a lull, we caught another Mahi. Truth be told, I had booked a large and strong Mahi who rewarded me by biting through the line and making his escape.
