We have taken numerous private charter fishing trips along the Atlantic and Pacific coast. Although the captain and crew can’t guarantee you will catch fish I do expect them to know how to use their equipment and at least put us in an area where larger fish are biting. The captain tells us he “doesn’t know how to read his depth finder, that his son knows how to do all of that”. We begin fishing in the inlet harbor what I am initially thinking is for our bait fish which we have done on previous charters. To my surprise we never leave the harbor and never catch anything more than just bait fish. We could have saved ourselves the money and caught the same fish if not bigger from the peer. This was the worst fishing trip that we have ever been on.

We arrived at location a little early.  Greeted warmly by staff at the ship store.  We left on time had great detailed instruction.  Great working relationship between captain and first mate.  Great experience wish the review could be a 10 not just the 5 star.  Will definitely be returning for another trip,  hopefully in the fall when the shrimp are running better.

Captain Russell and Mate Mike were great!!!!!! We never expected to catch the amount of shrimp we caught. If you are looking to fill your freezer. Chances are these guys will take care and do their best to overwhelm you with the amount of shrimp!!!! Our wives loved sorting thru the catch. Give these guys a go!!!!!!!!!!!

We thought we were going fishing but found out we were going shrimping.  Which was perfectly fine, since we had never done it before.  Had a great time and caught lots of shrimp and crabs.  Of course being rookies, we had to scramble to figure out how to clean them when we got back to the vacation rental, which wasn’t quite set up for it.  All-in-all a great experience capped off by a frenzy of a night.  Was the 3rd time booking with Grandpa and will definitely do so again next trip to OBX.
Afterward I checked back at my confirmation emails and it was clear that I was indeed booked for shrimping.  The mix-up was entirely my fault.  But again, it was a wonderful experience. We are looking forward to next summer!
