This guest booked a shark fishing trip. At no time can anyone guarantee how many fish will come to the boat if any or the size of the fish. Reef fishing is different because we know exactly what is on the reefs we fish since we dive all our sites. Sharks are ocean dwelling fish which are always on the move so we use a very potent blend of chum to attract them. Depending on the strength of the tide or current will determine how far or what distance you can bring sharks from. There is no way anyone can guarantee how many sharks will show up if any. How long you book your trip can play a big factor when you consider the strength of the tide and how far your chum slick will travel. There are times we have may sharks show up and other times you may get no sharks. Any seasoned fisherman understands this which is why it’s called fishing. In fact on this trip we did bring a rather very large Tiger Shark to the boat over 12ft long. We fed it right close to the boat and the guests fought it but lost the battle. Please manage your expectations when booking a Huge Fish trip especially if you don’t do thos everyday. It is very hard to land Huge Fish even for a Professional. This is part of fishing. Kevin, we enjoyed fishing with you but unfortunately I can’t change the weather that turned on us. We had a beautiful start to the day, caught fish consistently on the reef and it seemed like everyone was enjoying themselves. When the front moves in fishing was affected and that’s why we caught fish for a while and then it was over. Unfortunately the weather turned and it has been storming since Saturday night now. We worked very hard for you, made multiple attempts trolling around the reefs with more than four passes on nine separate reef systems and a wreck for big Barracuda but once fish turn off from a pressure change, it’s over. I don’t understand the low rating, I do understand being disappointed not getting a big catch though. Unfortunately it is fishing and Mother Nature is in control. God bless, Capt. Mark

It is very disappointing to get a review like this when you work very hard for the customer. I can appreciate constructive criticism but when I see all negative and not 1 nice comment is frustrating when we gave 100%.
First off we never leave the dock without live shrimp, never only use frozen. We always try to catch live white bait to enhance our variety of catch but with the recent redtide it has been hit or miss. This family had kids and all had no to very little experience which we worked non stop to help keep them on fish. What he didn’t mention is we worked non stop keeping them on fish the entire trip which yes an hour of the trip was spent on trying to get different bait for a grouper he wanted but also included our travel time out to the reef which was 35 minutes. He did catch a goliath Grouper not mentioned and lost several big fish which happens to the best fisherman let alone to inexperienced ones.
I am not sure how much more we can do to make a guest happy when catching fish the entire trip, over 50 fish were caught and the kids had a blast. Sorry but not every trip will catch monster fish. Only 2 years ago we had the largest fish kill in history from red tide which is here again so when booking a fishing trip it is best to keep expectations realistic based on the conditions. We take every guests comments seriously and make improvements when possible to ensure the best guest experience.
