Fished Monday and Tuesday water was still in the 40s but we found some excellent Smallmouth, biggest was a monster 6.9# with our 5 biggest going 24.11. Fishing is going this continue to get better as more fish move up to get ready for the spawn.

Fishing was starting to kick in on West Bay prior to this week's cold and rainy weather. Fish started moving shallow when the sun was up and warming the water, caught one over 5# and four over 4# with numerous fish in the #3 class on my first trip to the bay. Water is extremely clear this spring and with the coldest part of the week over, fishing will kick back in full speed. I have prime dates in June available, with big pre-spawn fish cruising the flats.

Traverse Bay slowed down some in July with fish scattering everywhere so you had to search them out. We still had a lot of fish over 4# most came out of the 15โ€™ to 20โ€™ range. Also made it back to the UP of Michigan twice to fish smallmouth and as usually very little fishing pressure with lots of nice fish. In the UP we averaged 50 to 60 fish a day, not too bad.

Fish are shallow, on drop offs, on rocks and everywhere! Fishing is going to awesome for the rest of the year.

Fishing remains great, we have fish shallow in rocks and deeper in dark spots. Drop shot, wacky worms, tudes and ned jigs are getting it done. Late July and August are big fish months.
