- Background
- My father had me fishing at around age 5. I got hooked pretty hard and quickly. Fishing is practically all I do. Taking people fishing is a truly fulfilling job. I also fish with The Bass Anglers Sportsman Society, also known as B.A.S.S., Major League Fishing, previously called FLW, and American Bass Anglers. My son, Captain Hunter, worked as my mate since age 9. Now he's a licensed Captain who knows all my tricks plus adds his own expertise to the day.
- Techniques
- My son and I use a lot of light tackle and have run many successful fly fishing trips. We are also well-versed in bottom fishing with cut or live bait. Probably 80 percent of our fish are taken on spinning tackle. And what about a 37-inch Striped Bass on a 12-pound line? We've done that many times as well. We also use live eels and live or cut bunker (menhaden). Last fall the average Striper was 38 to 47 inches. Thank you "slot" limit. We also target and do very well on big Blackfish (Tautog) in the fall. We also prefer spinning equipment and jigs to catch them. Bluefish and Fluke also mix in from May 1st to November 1st.
