I recently had knee surgery so I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to enjoy my annual fishing trip while visiting the Keys. Fortunately for me, I arranged my trip with Captain Eric Scoble, from Blackwater Charters and he not only put us on a lot of fish, but also took into consideration the situation with my knee, which made the trip possible and enjoyable. The weather was warm and breezy and our backwater fishing was busy as I spent most of my time reeling in sea trout, red fish and snook. When I wasn’t busy catching fish, I was taking in the sights inlcuding some up close encounters with manatees, dolphins, flamingos and even a bull shark that pilfered one of my large snooks. It was an overall great day of fishing and being out on the water. I’m already looking forward to retuning next time for another excursion with Captain Eric.

Went for Tarpon. Captain Dylan was excellent and worked hard to find Tarpon but weather was windy conditions. We had 2 hits and both large Tarpons jumped and spit out hook. That was exciting to witness big Tarpons jump. We moved closer to shore and caught about 5 sharks 4 foot in lengh. Then as the sun was setting we hooked a large Bull shark. It took about 25 minutes to fight and the captain moving the boat a long distance to officially land, Captain grabbed the leader to release,  a 7 foot plus approx. 200 lb. Bull shark. Unforgettable experience. Highly recommend.

What an incredible experience! We started by casting a huge net to catch live bait. Then, we headed to a spot near a bridge, and that’s when the real fun began! We caught over 50 fish, in 2.5 hours, across four species, including two massive groupers weighing more than 25 kilos each. An unforgettable day on the water!

Had a great day fishing with Capt. Eric on a difficult conditions day. Weather was clear but very windy. He went out of his way to make the ride to our fishing spot as comfortable as possible and found a spot that was very productive as well as protected from the wind. We went from a day that I thought might get canceled to catching over 40 fish of 5 different species. Also… did I mention it was 2 experienced husband anglers with our “newbie” wives on the charter. He was amazing with his instruction and patience with the girls. Full disclosure… the girls caught more fish than we did. Will definitely fish with Capt. Eric again next time we are in town.
